Pertinência de estudo dos fatores que afetam o comportamento de professores e alunos do IPL, face à introdução de tecnologia num processo de EaD

Com as profundas mudanças que o Ensino Superior tem vindo a sofrer, devido ao Processo de Bolonha, as tecnologias têm, cada vez mais, um papel de destaque no que se refere ao apoio à educação, na medida em que permitem um ensino / aprendizagem a qualquer hora e em qualquer local. Contudo, sempre que se implementa uma nova tecnologia não se sabe até que ponto, esta terá sucesso ou não, pois existem diversos fatores que podem afetar o comportamento humano. O presente artigo pretende propor um projeto de investigação relativo ao estudo dos fatores que afetam o comportamento de professores e alunos envolvidos num processo de Educação a Distância no Instituto Politécnico de Leiria

Academic dishonesty: understanding how undergraduate students think and act

The purpose of this investigation is to explore and understand the justifications given by students to the existence of dishonest behavior and understanding the extent to which the justifications given might influence denouncing and cheating behavior. 1277 undergraduate students of two Portuguese Public Universities were surveyed about their own cheating behavior, their propensity to denounce and the ―neutralizing attitudes‖. As predicted, ―neutralizing attitudes‖ was negatively correlated with self cheating behavior and positively correlated with reporting. The likelihood of copying is greater when the purpose is ―helping a friend‖, ―when the courses are more difficult‖, ―to get higher marks/grades‖, and because ―peers accept and tend to see copying practices as normal‖. Results support the notion that context emerges as a very important influence in the decision to cheating. The environment-peer pressure and the normalized attitudes towards academic dishonesty are the main influences on the propensity to cheating

Escala de Atitudes Face ao Lazer em Adolescentes e Jovens Adultos

Atualmente, o lazer e as atitudes face ao lazer têm sido alvo de interesse na investigação psicológica, concretamente no domínio da Psicologia Social. O objetivo do presente estudo foi adaptar a escala Leisure Attitude Scale de Raghb e Beard, construída para avaliar as atitudes face ao lazer em função das três componentes de atitude (cognitiva, afetiva e comportamental) para a população de estudantes, adolescentes e jovens adultos portugueses. Participaram no estudo 462 sujeitos (57,8% do sexo feminino e 42,2% do sexo masculino), com uma média de idades de 19,97 (desvio padrão de 4,85). Os resultados obtidos confirmam a estrutura e as características psicométricas da versão original, refletindo valores largamente aceitáveis de fidelidade (consistência interna) e validade (validade de conteúdo) quer para a escala total quer para as várias sub-escalas (cognitiva, afetiva e comportamental). Perspetivas uma forma de expressão : o audiovisual como estratégia de inovação social

Engaging community in several projects, regardless the particular features that each member can have it is important to promote leisure, well-being and life quality in citizen lives. Therefore it is important to foster strategies that allow everyone, without any kind of discrimination, to participate in different activities. This paper aims to disclosure Perspetivas Project that emerge with the objective of promoting innovative interventions that allow social inclusion of people with intellectual disability, increasing their capacity to create audiovisual works. Perspetivas consist in training activities of audiovisual language to people with intellectual disability, in order to allow them create audiovisual products. Besides promoting leisure experiences, Perspetivas also has the potential to the acquisition and/or development of different skills, such as capacity of self-expression and communication. The project implementation was powerful and enriching, given the collaborative work that has benefited all the involved persons, contributing to promote a new strategy of social innovation

Perspetivas: utilização de audiovisuais por pessoas com necessidades especiais: avaliação de uma intervenção do ponto de vista dos cuidadores

A qualidade de vida das pessoas passa pela participação e envolvimento em diferentes atividades que promovam a autonomia e desenvolvimento de diferentes competências. O Projeto Perspetivas surge pela necessidade de criação de intervenções com públicos diversificados, que permitam promover o desenvolvimento de competências, através de atividades e ações relacionadas com a linguagem e produção audiovisual. Foi realizada uma intervenção numa Instituição Particular de Solidariedade Social para pessoas com deficiência intelectual, onde os clientes criaram três filmes. O estudo apresentado pretende avaliar a intervenção, do ponto de vista dos cuidadores. Desta forma, foi-lhes aplicado um inquérito por questionário, com os objetivos de: explorar de que forma veem esta intervenção na vida dos clientes; analisar em que medida a intervenção contribui para o desenvolvimento de competências; e identificar os aspetos positivos e menos positivos da intervenção. Os resultados revelam que o Projeto Perspetivas teve sucesso, sendo um projeto inovador e diferente do quotidiano, no qual foi possível dar palavra à instituição, rentabilizando as suas áreas fortes e desenvolvendo diferentes capacidades nos clientes. Molecular Characterization and Expression of Two New Members of the SLC10 Transporter Family: SLC10A4 and SLC10A5

Over 10 years the solute carrier family SLC10 comprised two well established sodium-dependent bile acid transporters, i.e. the Na+/taurocholate cotransporting polypeptide NTCP (SLC10A1) and the apical sodium-dependent bile acid transporter ASBT (SLC10A2). These carriers are essentially involved in the maintenance of the enterohepatic circulation of bile acids mediating the first step of active bile acid transport through the membrane barriers in the liver (NTCP) and the intestine (ASBT). Recently, two further members of this transporter family were identified in our group; they are referred to as sodium-dependent organic anion transporter SOAT (SLC10A6) and SLC10A7. While SOAT transports sulfoconjugated steroid hormones and sulfoconjugated bile acids, SLC10A7 remains an orphan carrier with yet unknown substrates. In the present study, two novel members were discovered and referred to as Slc10a4 and SLC10A5 (GenBank accession nos. AY825924, AY825925, and DQ074435). This work describes molecular cloning, expression and molecular analysis as well as functional testing for these novel putative membrane transporters. Sequence lengths of the SLC10A4 and SLC10A5 proteins are between 434-438 amino acids in man, rat, and mouse which is much longer compared with other members this carrier family (i.e. 340-377 amino acids). However, sequence identity/similarity of SLC10A4 is quite high to NTCP, ASBT, and SOAT, being 29%/54%. In contrast, identity/similarity values of SLC10A5 are highest to SLC10A3 which is an orphan and hitherto uncharacterized member of the SLC10 family. Slc10a4 exhibits a seven transmembrane domain topology with Nexo/Ccyt trans-orientation of the N- and C-terminal ends, whereas SLC10A5/Slc10a5 shows nine putative TMDs. Based on real time quantitative PCR and northern blot analyses SLC10A4 expression is predominant in the brain, whereas SLC10A5 is highest expressed in the liver and kidney. A polyclonal rabbit antibody was generated against the rat Slc10a4 protein and used for western blot and immunohistochemical analyses. Slc10a4-immunoreactivity was detected in cholinergic regions throughout the rat central nervous system. Co-localization studies with the cholinergic markers VAChT, ChAT, and CHT1 confirmed the presence of Slc10a4 in cholinergic neurons. Furthermore, the Slc10a4 protein is expressed in two dopaminergic regions: the substantia nigra and ventral tegmental area. Here, this protein was co-localized with ChAT and the catecholaminergic marker tyrosine hydroxylase. Slc10a5 expression was localized by in situ hybridization to hepatocytes and renal proximal tubules in rat liver and kidney sections, respectively. For the functional characterization of Slc10a4 and SLC10A5/Slc10a5, these proteins were expressed in X. laevis oocytes and HEK293 cells. Thereby, the C-terminal end of the proteins was tagged by the FLAG epitope and plasma membrane expression was confirmed by immunofluorescence microscopy. However, up to now transport studies failed to show transport activity of Slc10a4 and SLC10A5/Slc10a5 for bile acids and steroid sulfates, which are the typical substrates for NTCP, ASBT, and SOAT. Regarding SLC10A5/Slc10a5, because similar expression patterns to NTCP and ASBT and as these bile acid carriers are the most related carriers to SLC10A5 though, it's strongly supposed that SLC10A5 also has carrier function. Regarding Slc10a4, this carrier did not transport choline neither, which is a substrate of CHT1. Thus, in this study, the functional properties of Slc10a4 could not be completely elucidated, but Slc10a4 is assumed to be a new marker protein for cholinergic neurons. This unexpected finding for a novel member of the sodium/bile acid cotransporter family SLC10 sets Slc10a4 apart and needs further clarification

As experiências óptimas na vida diária de adolescentes: implicações para um desenvolvimento positivo

A investigação no domínio da adolescência só recentemente focou a sua atenção para o estudo científico da vida diária de adolescentes, com recurso a medidas em tempo real, que possibilitam a análise da experiência subjectiva, concretamente da experiência óptima. Este artigo ilustra este tipo de estudos e foi realizado com 50 adolescentes estudantes do ensino secundário, com o objectivo de conhecer como se organiza a sua vida diária em relação às actividades realizadas, lugares frequentados e pessoas com que lidam ao longo de uma semana, e a respectiva qualidade da experiência subjectiva. Os dados foram recolhidos recorrendo ao Experience Sampling Method (ESM).
